Tāmaki Makaurau

More than 70 community organisations, local groups and partners have received funding to take bold action on climate change.

Projects will help communities reduce greenhouse gas emissions, prepare for emergencies and adapt to the impacts of a changing climate. Applications closed in March 2026. Successful applicants were notified in May 2026.

The fund combines previous and new grants into one simple process, making it easy for communities to access more climate resilience funding. Read more about previous funding.

Acts of Roskill Kindness Trust ARK Community Emergency Hub Flood Response Simulation Exercise This project will deliver a one day disaster simulation exercise in Wesley, Mt Roskill, based on a severe rainfall flooding scenario in the Te Auaunga / Oakley Creek catchment. The exercise will test volunteer coordination, welfare food provision, communications, and off grid power systems to strengthen neighbourhood preparedness and community resilience during severe weather events. $8,600
Adventist Development & Relief Agency Adventist Development & Relief Agency National Disaster Ready Church (DRC) Programme This project will support the Disaster Ready Church programme to help churches and surrounding communities prepare for emergencies through practical workshops, household planning tools, emergency kit demonstrations, and accessible preparedness resources. Funding will support 4–6 churches to develop as Community Emergency Hubs, strengthening local readiness and community resilience. $14,865
Ahuroa Community Hall Inc Ahuroa Community Hall Emergency Readiness Plan This project will support Ahuroa Hall and Ahuroa School to strengthen their role as local emergency hubs through a collaborative emergency response plan, volunteer coordination, and additional equipment. Funding will help build local preparedness and support community response during emergency events. $15,000
Albany Emergency Working Group Albany Emergency Working Group This project will strengthen grassroots emergency preparedness through an upgraded Escape Tent, targeted scenario workshops, and the development of an Albany Emergency Response Group and Emergency Response Plan. These activities will build local capability, awareness, and connection while supporting the Albany Community Hub’s role as a Community Emergency Hub. $15,000
ANCAD - Auckland North Community and Development North Shore CALD Community Emergency Hub Capacity-Building Programme This project will deliver culturally tailored emergency readiness workshops and leadership sessions for ethnic community groups across the North Shore, supporting culturally and linguistically diverse communities to develop culturally relevant hub plans, community led governance models, and emergency readiness capability. $14,000
Aotea Family Support Group Charitable Trust Emergency Grab & Go Bags This project will provide emergency readiness bags with essential supplies for elderly and geographically isolated residents on Aotea Great Barrier Island. The project responds to severe weather risks and aims to strengthen preparedness and community resilience for residents who may be cut off from services for several days following extreme rainfall events. $15,000
Arapārera Community Catchment Group Building Climate and Emergency Resilience in the Arapārera Catchment This project will strengthen emergency preparedness and climate resilience across the Arapārera rural catchment, supporting more than 300 households, following severe flooding events. The project will support local hazard monitoring, neighbourhood communication networks, emergency resources, workshops, and catchment planning to improve coordinated community response and local resilience. $53,200
Ararimu Community Response Group Ararimu Community Resilience Building This project will strengthen emergency preparedness in the Hoteo and Port Albert community through rural focused capability training, household welfare packs, and preparedness information resources. The project responds to the community’s vulnerability to flooding and slips, helping residents prepare for isolation during severe weather events. $15,000
Auckland NorthWest Community Emergency Readiness Network Training - Leadership during community emergency response and when leading emergency hub This project will support leadership training for the Auckland Northwest Community Emergency Readiness Network, which includes more than 40 community hubs and 270 volunteers. The training will strengthen local leadership capability and support coordinated community emergency response across northwest Auckland. $5,825
Auckland United Oromo Community Incorporated Auckland Oromo Community Emergency Readiness & Resilience Project This project will deliver culturally tailored emergency preparedness workshops for Oromo families across Auckland. The project responds to increasing severe weather events and will help communities better understand emergency alerts, evacuation processes, and access to emergency support services, strengthening local preparedness and resilience. $11,500
Community Response Team (NZ) - Maraetai CRT(NZ) Training - Maraetai This project will support volunteer training for the Maraetai emergency shelter response team following the donation of emergency equipment including generators, radios, flood prevention equipment, and first aid supplies. The training will help volunteers safely deploy equipment and support coordinated community response during emergency events. $15,000
Connected Neighbourhoods Trust Hobsonville Emergency Response Group - emergency hub supplies This project will strengthen emergency preparedness across two community emergency hubs and three additional response locations by improving access to emergency power. Funding will support a large power pack and solar charging system to improve resilience, reduce reliance on generator delivery during emergencies, and support community response during power outages. $6,240
Earth Action Trust Cornwall Park Community EcoHub Series of Climate Workshops & Building Community Disaster Resilience in Puketāpapa and Albert Eden This project will deliver climate workshops and practical activities at the Cornwall Park Community EcoHub to promote low carbon living, sustainable food systems, and waste reduction across Albert-Eden and Puketāpapa. In parallel, the Community Flood Resilience Programme will deliver targeted activations that strengthen emergency readiness, practical response skills and neighbourhood networks. $19,504
Family Success Matters Community Emergency Grab Bag Initiative for Vulnerable South Auckland Families This project will strengthen emergency preparedness for vulnerable households disproportionately affected by increasing extreme weather events. The project will distribute emergency grab bags to approximately 100 high need families and provide preparedness information to 560 households across South Auckland. Through trusted relationships, particularly with Māori, Pasifika and migrant communities, people will be better equipped to respond safely during emergencies. $14,700
Global Lighthouse Foundation Sauni mo le Lumana'i – (Prepare for the future) Pasifika Climate Preparedness Project This project will strengthen the ability of Pasifika families and communities in the Puketāpapa area to prepare for and respond to climate related emergencies and natural disasters. The project will deliver community led preparedness workshops, youth engagement activities, and interactive events focused on supporting Pacific seniors, youth, and families from diverse backgrounds. $12,500
Green Bay Community House Community Readiness This project will deliver community preparedness workshops that help households build emergency kits, make emergency plans, and strengthen readiness for disasters. It will also support community outreach through flyers, sponsored posts, and newsletters to increase awareness of local resilience groups and Community Emergency Hub locations, helping build practical skills and a more prepared and connected community. $14,625
Greenhithe Community Trust Get More Emergency Ready Greenhithe This project will strengthen emergency preparedness in Greenhithe through community education resources, first aid training, business preparedness workshops, and equipment for Community Emergency Hub volunteers. Hoani Waititi Marae Emergency Readiness and Response Hoani Waititi Marae will strengthen emergency readiness for the marae, kōhanga, kura and marae whānau. The project will map the skills, resources and capabilities within our marae network and develop a emergency readiness plan supported by training and essential preparedness resources. Guided by tikanga values such as manaakitanga and whanaungatanga, the project will help ensure the marae is prepared to support whānau during severe weather and other emergency events. $15,000
Hunua Community Response Group Hunua Community Resilience Building This project will strengthen emergency preparedness in the local rural community through community based capability training and the purchase of an enclosed emergency trailer stocked with essential response items. The project aims to improve household and farm preparedness and support emergency response in areas likely to be isolated during severe weather events. $15,000
Kiribati Rodney Charitable Trust Kiribati Rodney Charitable Trust - Climate and Emergency Project This project will equip the Kiribati community with the knowledge, skills, and plans needed to prepare for, respond to, and adapt to climate and emergency risks. The project aims to build a confident, organised, and resilient community that can better protect health, safety, and livelihoods during emergency events. $55,000
Leigh Community Resilience Group c/- Leigh Hall Advisory Committee Leigh Hall Emergency Hub and Leigh Community Emergency Preparedness This project will support the development of Leigh Hall as a fully functioning Community Emergency Hub through emergency information packs, improved signage, and increased emergency food supplies. The project aims to strengthen preparedness for residents and visitors who may become isolated or stranded during emergency events. $6,500
Mahurangi West Community Response Group Emergency Preparedness This project will provide incident management training based on the Coordinated Incident Management System model to strengthen the response capability during emergency events. The training will help volunteers better manage complex, multi day emergencies involving diverse communities, challenging terrain, and limited access to external support. $11,154
Manaaki HOPE - Te Herenga Waka o Orewa marae hub Manaaki HOPE - Helping Our People in Emergencies This project will strengthen emergency preparedness and community connection in Silverdale and surrounding areas through the development of a marae based emergency hub at Te Herenga Waka o Orewa. The project will support people to make emergency plans for themselves and their whānau, and help ensure the marae is well equipped to serve the community during natural disasters. $11,854
Manurewa Neighbourhood Support Neighbours Connected- Street Level Emergency Readiness Activations This project will increase emergency readiness at the street and household level across Manurewa through a structured programme of community street activations delivered by a Neighbourhood Support Activator, in partnership with Auckland Emergency Management. $15,000
Massey Matters Ready, Set, Massey: Emergency Preparedness Workshops This project will deliver practical community emergency readiness workshops for Massey whānau, individuals, and community groups. The project will provide hands on support for emergency planning, first responder first aid, and Grab and Go emergency food kits, with priority given to ESOL learners, seniors, high needs whānau, and community volunteers. $15,000
Matiatia and Oneroa Residents and Ratepayers Association Inc Morra Hall Emergency Electrical & Communications Infrastructure Upgrade. This project will install solar panels, battery storage, emergency radio communications, and upgraded electrical infrastructure at Morra Hall to support its operation as a Community Emergency Hub during power outages and emergency events. This project will also provide a safe site for low-lying communities, workling closely with the communities of Blackpool, Surfdale and Piriatahi Marae, in collaboration with the Waiheke Local Board. $9,631
Mid Bays Resilient Communities Steering Committee Mid Bays Emergency Readiness Pamphlet Distribution This project will support community emergency preparedness in the Murrays Bay, Mairangi Bay, and Campbells Bay areas through the printing and distribution of household emergency information. Milford Cruising Club Emergency Community Hub Generator and Resources This project will strengthen the emergency response capability of Milford Cruising Club through the installation of a reliable backup generator and essential emergency resources at the community hub. The project will support the club’s role as a gathering point for local residents, boat owners, and emergency services during natural disasters and civil emergencies. $10,661
MPHS Community Trust Te Kuku- Millbrook Edible Garden This project will provide a secure container on site to store emergency supplies in a dry, organised, and easily accessible location. The container will support the practical storage needs of an Emergency Community Hub while ensuring emergency equipment is protected and ready for use when required. $6,900
Neighbourhood Support New Zealand Neighbours Connected - Street Level Emergency Readiness Activations This project will increase emergency readiness at the street and household level across Howick, Pakuranga, and Flat Bush through a structured programme of community street activations delivered by a Neighbourhood Support New Zealand Activator, in partnership with Auckland Emergency Management. $15,000
New Settlers Family and Community Trust Community-led Climate Action & Emergency Readiness This project will support refugee and migrant whānau in Auckland to become more emergency ready and take practical climate actions through practical workshops on community gardening, public transport use, and container gardening. The project will also strengthen the Community Champions network through hazard and risk training, first aid, mental health first aid, and emergency response coordination hui. $15,000
Ngāti Rehua-Ngātiwai ki Aotea Trust Board Kia Takatū Aotea 2026 – Emergency Response Project This project will strengthen community resilience on Aotea Great Barrier Island by developing a coordinated Emergency Response Plan with whānau and Kawa and Motairehe Marae. Through engaging emergency preparedness wānanga, the project aims to equip whānau with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to respond collectively and effectively during emergencies. $12,935

Otahuhu Town Hall Community Centre Otahuhu Community Emergency Hub & Resilience Programme This project will strengthen disaster preparedness in Ōtāhuhu by establishing Ōtāhuhu Town Hall as a community-led emergency support hub and delivering year round preparedness workshops and training. The project builds on existing community engagement activities and community hui that identified the town hall as a central location for local emergency response and support. $15,000
Pacific Vision Aotearoa Manava for Climate Resilience This project will support MANAVA for Climate Resilience, a Pacific-led initiative focused on preparing Pacific communities in Tāmaki Makaurau for major weather events. The project will share skills, resources, and emergency preparedness information while providing practical resilience resources to help strengthen community resilience, readiness and response capability. $10,000
Pāremoremo Emergency Resilience Group Strengthening emergency resilience in Pāremoremo This project will support the Pāremoremo Emergency Resilience Group to strengthen community emergency preparedness through local engagement, resourcing community hubs, and building community response capability together. People First NZ Climate emergency Readiness for People with Learning Disabilities This project will develop and deliver accessible emergency preparedness workshops tailored for people with learning disabilities. Piha Surf Life Saving Club Strengthening Piha SLSC emergency hub capability This project will strengthen Piha SLSC`s role as a Community Emergency Hub by securing a three-year generator maintenance plan and upgrading bunk beds to meet Health and Safety standards. Using relatable language and real-life coverage, the programme will explore practical topics including grab bags, evacuation planning, supporting parents and elders, understanding local hazards, and knowing what to do in an emergency. $15,000
SPiCE - Sandringham Project in Community Empowerment Sandringham Community Climate Adaptation and Emergency Readiness Pilot This project will deliver a neighbourhood scale, community led climate adaptation and emergency readiness pilot in Sandringham. The project will co-create a practical Community Climate Adaptation Plan, strengthen street level emergency networks, and build preparedness for flooding and severe storms while supporting stronger neighbour to neighbour connections. $55,000
SportHub Community Trust Emergency Readiness for West Auckland Chinese Communities This project will provide a safe and familiar emergency support hub for the West Auckland Chinese community through preparedness workshops, trusted emergency communications, and community leadership development. The project will support elderly residents and new migrants by improving emergency readiness and identifying community Emergency Champions to support others during crises. $15,000
St Pius X Catholic School (Glen Innes) St Pius X Community Emergency Hub Preparedness and Resilience Project This project will strengthen emergency readiness at St Pius X Catholic School, a designated Community Emergency Hub serving Glen Innes and the wider Maungakiekie Tāmaki area. It will support first aid training, emergency medical equipment, and secure storage to improve the community’s ability to respond safely during emergencies. $6,547
Stillwater Community Resilience Group Stillwater Community Emergency Hub Setup and Readiness Project This project will establish a fully equipped Community Emergency Hub for the isolated coastal community of Stillwater. Te Ara Rata Stream Team (TST) Community Flood Resilience This project will deliver community-led climate adaptation planning and emergency readiness activities in Māngere through workshops, hikoi, community events, and multilingual youth engagement. The project aims to strengthen understanding of local flood risks, improve household preparedness, and build neighbourhood support networks. $11,080
Te Runanga o Ngati Whatua Ngati Whatua Emergency Preparedness Plan This project will develop and implement a Ngāti Whātua Iwi Emergency Management Framework that strengthens marae support, improves collective emergency preparedness, and enhances self-sufficiency during natural hazard events across the rohe of Ngāti Whātua. It will support coordinated activation systems, resource mapping, vulnerable whānau identification, and collation of marae readiness planning to ensure Ngāti Whātua can respond effectively and sustainably to future emergencies $15,000
The Buckland Community Centre Incorporated (BCCI) Buckland Community Emergency Readiness Project 2026 This project will strengthen emergency preparedness in Buckland by completing the operational setup of the Community Emergency Hub, finalising the Community Response Group Plan, and delivering readiness workshops in partnership with Neighbourhood Support. The project will improve emergency coordination, equipment readiness and household preparedness, helping ensure the community is better able to respond collectively during emergency events. $15,000
The Catherine Mitchell Arts Centre Resilience for the Catherine Mitchell Arts Centre This project will increase energy resilience at the Catherine Mitchell Arts Centre through additional battery storage and two EV chargers connected to a new 10kW solar installation. $15,000
The Fatimah Foundation R.E.A.D.Y - Resilient Equitable Accessible Diverse Yielding Communities This project will deliver culturally tailored emergency preparedness workshops for migrant, Muslim, refugee, and isolated families across Auckland. The project will provide practical and digital readiness tools, build support networks, and strengthen preparedness for floods, storms, and other emergency events to boost preparedness confidence, reduce isolation, ensure equitable access, and foster sustainable community resilience. $15,000
The Waiheke Returned Services Association Incorporated Ostend RSA Community Resilience Support-Emergency and Backup Power This project will install a solar battery backup system and emergency communications capability at the Ostend RSA and War Memorial Hall on Waiheke Island. Waiwera Valley CRG WVACRG Community Engagement and Preparedness Outreach This project will deliver emergency readiness events, volunteer training, and targeted outreach to hard to reach residents across the geographically isolated Waiwera Valley community. Whangaparaoa Community Patrol Whangaparaoa Community Patrol; Strengthening Local Emergency Response and Resilience. This project will strengthen local emergency response capability on the Whangaparāoa Peninsula through essential equipment for volunteer patrol teams. Ride and Rail Auckland

An eight-week active transport pilot supporting South Auckland residents aged 60 and over to confidently use bicycles and e-bikes alongside Auckland’s electrified rail network. The programme will provide weekly guided rides from South Auckland train stations into the city using Auckland’s protected cycleway network.

Electrify South Auckland

This project will support whānau to reduce energy costs and lower household emissions through electrification. The project will deliver a “Make your next machine electric” campaign helping whānau understand making the swap from gas to electric appliances - addressing some common barriers: upfront cost, uncertainty about which product to choose, and how to find a trustworthy installer.

Matuku Reserve Trust Growing a Flood Resilient Future with Wetland Restoration This project will deliver a Wetland Festival, community hui, and landowner outreach activities in Te Henga to increase understanding of wetlands as a nature based solution for reducing flood impacts and enabling locals to discove their adaptation vision. The project will also support wetland restoration through planting plans, site preparation, volunteer support, and guidance for landowners in the Waitākere River Valley. $30,730
Ngāti Tamaterā Treaty Settlement Trust Ngati Tamatera - Iwi - Led Climate Readiness Programme This project strengthens iwi-led emergency preparedness and climate resilience across Ngāti Tamaterā through targeted training, practical tools, and resource development. Responding to increasing climate risks, we will equip whānau and marae leaders with emergency plans, preparedness toolkits, and coordinated response capability. Grounded in mātauranga Māori, the initiative builds long-term resilience, reduces vulnerability, and embeds sustainable preparedness practices across our rohe. $122,000
North West Country Incorporated Property Flood Resilience Toolkit This project will develop a flooding toolkit for commercial properties to support property level flood resilience measures in the short to medium term. The project will provide property specific information and reporting templates to help businesses, Council, insurers, and banks better understand and manage flood related risks to buildings and their contents. $40,000
NZ Pan African Broadcasting Corporation Charitable Trust Pan African West Auckland Multi-ethnic Climate Resilience and Emergency Readiness Programme This project will strengthen climate resilience and emergency readiness across diverse West Auckland communities through emergency training, culturally responsive engagement, climate adaptation planning, and community led action. The project aims to improve preparedness for flooding and extreme weather while supporting communities that do not traditionally engage with local government processes. $55,000
Onetangi Residents Association Onetangi Wetland Restoration Planning This project will support the development of a long term plan for the “Third Avenue” Wetland in Onetangi to guide its sustainable restoration and management. It will also support professional expertise and community education activities throughout the planning process to strengthen local understanding and stewardship of the wetland. $9,200
Pest Free Kaipatiki Restoration Society (PFK) Neighbourhoods for Climate Resilience This project will deliver community-led climate adaptation activities across the Bayview and Rangitira catchments through stream restoration, land stabilisation, and neighbourhood engagement. The project will connect and mentor whānau and neighbours across the catchment to strengthen social cohesion and support restoration on privately owned land. $175,000
Quorum Sense Planning for Climate-Resilient Farming in Rodney Ward This project will build on the established Future Ready Farms initiative in Rodney by developing a long term community support plan for farmers transitioning to sustainable and regenerative farming practices. The project aims to strengthen climate resilience through community networks and shared understanding of how soil health supports climate resilience. $39,955
SPiCE - Sandringham Project in Community Empowerment Sandringham Community Climate Adaptation and Emergency Readiness Pilot This project will deliver a neighbourhood scale, community led climate adaptation and emergency readiness pilot in Sandringham. The project will co-create a practical Community Climate Adaptation Plan, strengthen street level emergency networks, and build preparedness for flooding and severe storms while supporting stronger neighbour to neighbour connections. $55,000
TASI Network Tuvalu Climate Adaptation Through Sustainable Home Gardens and Community Resilience Talanoa This project will deliver a 12 month climate resilience programme to help Tuvalu families in Auckland build climate resilience through home gardening, low‑emission living, and cultural talanoa. Workshops, garden kits, and youth-led taloana will strengthen food security, reduce emissions, and build community resilience. $24,200
Te Ara Rata Stream Team (TST) Community Flood Resilience This project will deliver community-led climate adaptation planning and emergency readiness activities in Māngere through workshops, hikoi, community events, and multilingual youth engagement. Te Hau o Te Whau Sponge Neighbourhood Pilot Project This project will deliver a neighbourhood scale climate adaptation pilot in Te Riu o Te Awa Whau through water based interventions in the coastal and industrial fringe of the awa. Working alongside iwi, the project will promote integrated water management through stormwater retention, ocean pollutant mitigation, bio remedial solutions, and public space enhancement informed by the original urban Pā of Tāmaki Makaurau. $40,000
Te Kawerau Iwi Tiaki Trust Enabling adaption thorugh kōrero and storytelling This project will deliver an Active Whakapapa in Te Henga, a kaupapa grounded in the mana of Te Kawerau ā Maki that shares local whakapapa, history, and mātauranga through guided hīkoi and pūrākau. The project aims to restore the connection between people and whenua by returning stories to the places they belong. $40,000
Te Pu-a-nga Maara Te Pu-a-Ngā Maara Climate Resilience Programme: Community Composting and Riparian Restoration in the Manukau Harbour Catchment A community climate resilience programme combining native riparian restoration, community composting, and climate education within the Manukau Harbour catchment. The project will reduce organic waste emissions, strengthen flood resilience along local waterways, and support community-led restoration through planting days, workshops, and soil regeneration practices grounded in mātauranga Māori. $35,500
Uru Whakaaro Limited Ngaa Hau o Maangere Ngahere Regeneration This project builds on the Māngere Ngahere Project, which catalysed a collaborative and integrated place based approach to understanding and restoring ngahere in Māngere in alignment with Auckland Council’s Urban Ngahere Strategy. The next stage will develop a comprehensive collaborative implementation plan to embed this work and create meaningful, holistic outcomes for people and the whenua while supporting climate adaptation planning. $40,000
YMCA North Incorporated Te Wairoa River Restoration Project This catchment-wide climate adaptation initiative reduces flood risk and restores freshwater health across the Upper Wairoa River and its tributaries. Building on completed planning and year-one delivery, the project continues crack willow control, riparian replanting, and community engagement. The project stabilises erosion-prone riverbanks, improves water quality, restores native habitat, and strengthens long-term resilience to increasingly severe storm events. $175,000
