CLIMATE ACTION TRAIL QUIZ COMPETITION

By entering this Competition, entrants are deemed to have read, understood and accepted the following terms and conditions:

A. Competition

1. The Competition is for the purpose of the competition is to promote the completion of the Climate Action Trail at the Botanic Gardens.
2. To enter, entrants must complete the entry form available at https://forms.office.com/r/A3kBTVDTsv (“the Website”) and enter all details marked with “*”.
3. The Competition commences on Wednesday 1 April 2026 and ends on Thursday 30 April 2026. Entries received after this time will not be accepted. Proof of posting or emailing cannot be accepted as proof of delivery.
4. Every entrant warrants that all information submitted is true, current and complete. Auckland Council reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who does not comply with these terms and conditions.
5. The Competition is open to members of the public who are residents of Auckland. A person can only enter once and multiple entries will result in an entrant being disqualified. Members of the public aged under 18 years can enter the competition to win prize A and members of the public aged 18 years and over can enter the competition to win prize B.
6. Members of the public aged under 18 years will require their parents’ or guardian’s consent in order to enter and be eligible to win a prize.

B. Entries, Selection and Prize Draw

7. The Competition Winners for prize draw A and prize draw B will be drawn on Tuesday 5 May and will be contacted by email as provided on their entry form.
8. The winner of each draw will be chosen via a random drawing by the lead of the Climate Action Solutions Team and one other staff member.
9. If the Competition winners do not acknowledge receipt, and cannot be contacted within two weeks of the draw Auckland Council will draw another winner/s.
10. Auckland Council’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

C. Prize

11. The following prizes can be won:
    • Prize A: A gardening kit with gardening tools, seeds, and books valued at $200 NZD
    • Prize B: Xiaomi Electric Scooter Elite Max valued at $749 NZD
12. The Prize is subject to the following terms:
    1. Each prize will be delivered to the address provided by the winner. The delivery address must be located within the Auckland region.
    2. Council will pay the cost of delivery within the Auckland Region.
    3. If the winner elects not to have the prize delivered, the winner must pick up the prize from Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland Council) building at 135 Albert Street, Auckland CBD.
    4. If the winner arranges to pick up the prize from 135 Albert Street and does not collect it at the time arranged, there will be one more attempt to arrange collection after which a new winner will be drawn for the prize.
13. The Prize is not redeemable for cash, not transferable to any other person, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.
14. If the Prize or part of the Prize becomes unavailable (for any reason), Auckland Council reserves the right to limit entry, cancel or amend the Prizes at its own and sole discretion, including providing the Competition winner with a substitute Prize, either in full or in part.

D. Privacy

15. The information provided on the entry form will be used to contact the Competition winners. In addition, the Competition winners consent to Auckland Council using their names and suburb for promotional purposes to be displayed on the Auckland Climate Action website and Facebook page, which will be shown after the Competition has ended.
16. The Competition winner also consents to participate and co-operate as required in all promotional activities relating to the Competition.
17. The Entry forms will not be returned. All information provided by the entrants will be collected, used, stored, disclosed and corrected in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. All entrants have the right to access their information and request for any personal information to be corrected.
18. Email addresses collected for the competition will be stored for a maximum of 3 months after the draw closes to allow for re-draw. The information will only be accessible by the members of the Climate Action Solutions Team who are involved in the competition.

E. Exclusions

19. The following persons are not eligible to win the prize:
    1. Anyone under the age of 18 at the time of entering the competition cannot win prize B.
    2. Anyone 18 years and over at the time of entering the competition cannot win prize A.
    3. Anyone not resident of Auckland at the time of the prize draw.
20. Anyone who works for Auckland Council or any one of the Auckland council-controlled organisations, their immediate family members or any agencies or companies associated with the Competition.
21. Auckland Council reserves the right to exclude any entrant from participating in the Competition at its sole discretion. Auckland Council also reserves the right to refuse to award a prize to an entrant who is in breach of these Terms and Conditions, gained an unfair advantage in participating in the competition or won a prize by using fraudulent means.
22. Auckland Council will not be liable for any claims for loss, damage or injury whatsoever or for any physical or mental injury suffered by any entrant or the Competition winner as a result of or in connection with the Competition or due to the prize won in the Competition.
23. Auckland Council reserves the right to amend or change these Terms and Conditions at any time at their sole discretion, including extending, postponing or cancelling the Competition.
24. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand and shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of New Zealand courts.
